According to the No. 1 Road Traffic Police Team under Lao Cai Provincial Police, the incident occurred at around 2:15 am at Km120+900 on Highway 4D.
A large mass of earth and rock collapsed from the uphill slope, completely blocking the roadway and disrupting traffic along the route.
Following the incident, traffic police and Ta Phin commune authorities quickly arrived at the scene to assess the situation, establish safety measures and regulate traffic.

By the morning, authorities coordinated with road maintenance units to install warning signs, set up barriers from a distance and deploy machinery to break up large rocks and clear debris from the road surface.
Vehicles traveling from Lao Cai ward to Sa Pa via Highway 4D were redirected to Provincial Road 155.
By around 9 am, the landslide site had been largely cleared, and traffic on Highway 4D was basically restored. However, due to ongoing risks of further landslides from the hillside, traffic through the area continues to be closely controlled.
Authorities remain on-site to manage traffic and respond promptly to any additional incidents.
