A landslide in early September 17 in Dong Dang town in the northern province of Lang Son killed six people, the National Committee for Search and Rescue reported.
At approximately 2am, an avalanche of rocks and land crashed into a tent, in which ten people were sleeping. Four people managed to escape with light injuries.
Additionally, a landslide at around 3am in Lang Son’s Cao Loc district claimed the life of a five-year-old child and injured the mother.
According to local residents, the landslides may have been trigged by the heavy rains brought by typhoon Kalmaegi, which swept through a number of northern localities in the past two days.
The investigation into the incidents is ongoing.
