On September 23, at Hekou District People's Hospital, representatives of the Honghe County Health Department (Yunnan province, China) and the Health Department of Lao Cai province (Vietnam) met to discuss measures for promoting medical cooperation between the two sides.

The meeting was held after the COVID-19 pandemic to continue the tradition of cross-border medical cooperation between the two sides. In a cordial and friendly atmosphere, the two sides informed each other cooperation activities between the Hekou Health Department (China) and a number of units under the Lao Cai Department of Health (Vietnam) on medical examination and treatment, disease prevention and control.

At the meeting, the two hospitals signed cooperation agreements on medical issues such as: Taking turns organizing annual exchange, cooperation and hospital development activities between Lao Cai province (Vietnam) and Honghe County (China); Inviting medical staff and experts from both sides to participate in knowledge exchange activities to improve professional capacity and quality of medical examination and treatment services; Inviting experts to participate in international academic exchange activities on medicine and health; considering the implementation of exchange and cooperation on emergency aid, opening up the "Green Rescue Road" to well serve the people living at the Vietnam-China border; Strengthening cooperation and exchange of oriental medicine services and other medical fields.

The two sides also agreed to assign the Hekou District People's Hospital and Lao Cai Provincial Traditional Medicine Hospital to be the focal point for exchange and cooperation between medical units of Honghe County and Lao Cai province.

Previously, in May, in Lao Cai city, the People's Committee of Lao Cai province and the People's Government of Honghe County held talks to evaluate the contents of cooperation in recent times and propose integration in the near future.

Implementing the agreement between the People's Committee of Lao Cai province and the People's Committee of Honghe County, relevant agencies of the two sides have actively coordinated to well implement the content of the 3 legal documents on Vietnam - China land border and bilateral agreements to build Vietnam - China land border of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.

Recently, cooperation in the fields of culture, sports and tourism, transportation, cross-border labor management, education, environmental protection and health also achieved many important results.
