VietNamNet Bridge - More than four months after Lao Cai’s Chair Nguyen Van Vinh was elected as the province’s Party Secretary, Mr. Doan Van Huong has been appointed as the new chairman.

On December 26 Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung approved the appointment of Huong as the new chair of the People’s Committee of the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai from 2011 to 2016.

Huong, Lao Cai’s Deputy Chair, assumed the position, replacing Vinh who became Lao Cai’s Party Secretary in August, after the former Party Secretary – Mr. Nguyen Huu Van - was promoted to the position of the General State Auditor.

Huong was born in 1956 in Hanoi, an agriculture engineer. After 10 years working in the Hai Phong state farm in Bao Thang District, Lao Cai Province, in 1991 he was appointed as Vice Chair and then Chair of Bao Thang district, Director of the Department of Planning and Investment of Lao Cai in 2006 and Vice Chair of Lao Cai in 2010.
