Chairwoman of the Lao National Assembly Pany Yathotu lauded the cooperation between the Offices of the Vietnamese and Lao legislatures while receiving a delegation from the Vietnamese NA’s Office led by its Head Nguyen Hanh Phuc in Vientiane on August 11.

She told the delegation that their working visit will contribute to boosting the special friendship , solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the Parties, States and National Assemblies of Vietnam and Laos.

For his part, Nguyen Hanh Phuc thanked the Lao NA Chairwoman for her warm reception.

He reported to the host the main contents of the 8 th Conference on Experience Exchange of the NA Offices of Vietnam and Laos which opened on August 11 and the results of the cooperation between the two offices over the past two years.

He also affirmed that the two sides will improve ties in personnel training, application of information technology, and delegation exchange.

Vietnam, Laos NA offices boost stronger links

A workshop on sharing experience in improving the quality of consultations and support provided to the National Assembly (NA) between representatives from the Vietnamese NA Office and their Lao counterparts took place in Vientiane, Laos on August 11.

Addressing the event, Lao NA Vice Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane highlighted the significance of the workshop, saying it offers a chance for the two agencies to review the recent implementation of cooperation agreements between the two offices and discuss future orientations for their links.

The event contributed to promoting affiliations between the two NA offices, thus fostering the traditional relations between the two Parties, States and NAs, he added.

The workshop focused on issues related to consultations in preparing agendas for NA meetings and NA Standing Committee’s sessions.

Law building work to prepare for joining the ASEAN Community, scheduled to be set up by the end of this year, were also on the table.

The two sides agreed to maintain connections in training and information technology, press and delegation exchanges. They will also work closely at regional and international forums.

In his speech, Head of Vietnam’s NA Office Nguyen Hanh Phuc said he believes that sharing experience and exchange activities between the two offices will not only help enhance their connection but also tighten the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.

Vietnam People’s Public Security anniversary marked in Laos

The Vietnamese Embassy in Laos held a banquet in Vientiane on August 10 to mark the 70th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Public Security.

Addressing the event, Ambassador Nguyen Manh Hung reviewed the glorious tradition of the Vietnam People’s Public Security, saying that under the leadership of the Vietnamese Party, the police force together with the national army and people reaped glorious achievements over the past seven decades.

During the period, the Vietnamese and Lao police stood side by side and worked closely to ensure national security and social order and safety in their respective countries, the Ambassador said.

The traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations’ Parties, States and people as well as the collaborative ties and mutual assistance between the Vietnam People’s Public Security and the Lao Ministry of Public Security are a rare example of pure and faithful relations in the world, he added.

The Ambassador expressed his belief that the coordination and reciprocal support between the two countries’ police forces would progress and actively contribute to national construction, defence and reform.

On behalf of the Lao counterparts, Lao Deputy Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh and Minister of Public Security Somkeo Silavong congratulated the Vietnam People’s Public Security on it achievements over the past 70 years.

Special music performances celebrating the time-honoured relations between Vietnam and Laos were staged at the banquet.-
