The weapons were unearthed during the construction of a waste water project in Buon Ma Thuot City on Monday.

The weapons, left from the US war in Viet Nam, include 90 105mm artillery shells, 300 detonators and bullets weighing more than 400kg for machine guns.

All the shells found contain intact detonators, according to the soldiers.

The soldiers are continuing to hunt for mines in the neighbouring areas.

According to their signals, a large number of weapons still remained underground, they said.

The unit will continue to expand the search area to find the remaining weapons.

Earlier, a construction company also found a large number of weapons left from the war at the construction site of the project, and reported it to the local authorities so that they could be removed to a safe area.
