LasVegas Sands CEO Sheldon Adelson (L) met with MPI Minister Bui Quang Vinh in Hanoi.

Vietnam Investment Review reported Adelson had a working session with Vietnamese Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh, discussing LasVegas Sands’s investment plans in Vietnam.

Adelson said his group wants to build a large-scale integrated resort in Vietnam, comprising a hotel, restaurants, areas for exhibitions and fairs, conference halls, shopping malls, spas, sport halls, a theatre, cinemas, a museum and other entertainment services.

He said he hopes the project would be approved by the Vietnamese Government. He also proposed the government and MPI create favourable conditions for foreign investors to do business in Vietnam to attract more tourists to the country.

Last year, LasVegas Sands desired to invest in two integrated resorts, including casinos, in Hanoi and HCM City, with a total cost of US$6 billion.

The group proposed the government of Vietnam allow Vietnamese citizens to play in casinos, because current regulations stipulate only foreign passport holders are able to access casino services in Vietnam.

This year, LasVegas Sands sought opportunity for investment in casino services in Van Don District of Quang Ninh Province. Van Don integrated resort managers proposed receiving Vietnamese citizens on a trial basis.

LasVegas Sands is one of the world’s leading casino and resort operating companies. It is the developer of renowned casinos and resorts such as The Venetian, The Palazzo and Sands Expo in Las Vegas, The Venetian Macao, Sands, and Four Seasons hotel in Macao.
