The competition is part of a coffee fair which will take place in Hanoi on September 16-17 and in HCM City on October 20-21. A total of 26 professional baristas will compete in the final in Hanoi.
Unlike other latte art contests where judges need to restrict communication with contestants, at the PCA, competitors will receive comments from the judges.
"Competitors who have won PCA are often able to enter into deeper rounds in other global competitions and the others will also gain valuable career experience," said Tra My, representative of the event organisers.
The five-member judging panel will be led by Taiwanese Gary Pang - Asia PCA representative. He has judged several latte art competitions, including WBC FuZhou International 2012.
Two champions, two first runner ups and two second runner ups in Hanoi and HCM City will have the chance to participate at Asian PCA in Shanghai which is expected to take place in January, 2019.
The top 10 from Hanoi and HCM City will win coffee experience tours in Cau Dat Farm in Da Lat City in the Central Highland province of Lam Dong.
The coffee fair will gather coffee businesses from across the country such as coffee bean suppliers; raw materials; coffee roasters; importers and exporters and enterprises providing coffee machinery.
During the two-day event, the fair’s visitors will have the chance to learn about coffee and buy coffee making equipment.
Fun latte art games will also be on offer for visitors.
The event will take place at Van Ho Exhibition Centre, No 2 Hoa Lu Street, Hanoi and Saigon Outcast, 188 Nguyen Van Huong, District 2, HCM City.
