Ly will be supported by 11 musicians, including cellist and composer Nguyen Thanh Tu of the Viet Nam Symphony Orchestra.
Her live show, called O day, Kia và Khap Moi Noi! (Here, There and Everywhere!), will include a percussion and string ensemble.
The singer will perform on two nights before a selective audience of 500 at the city’s Opera House. Her songs will be accompanied by piano, cello, violin and guitar.
"This is the first time I have sung at a big venue like the Opera House. I will try my best to win over my fans," said Ly, who started her career in 2006 as a songwriter and guitarist, but in recent years has turned to singing.
The 29-year-old artist said: “Though I’ll be singing songs that brought me fame, I think new styles are needed.”
Cellist Tu, music director of Ly’s show, said that the musicians would “provide Ly’s fans with a great performance in a professional way."
Tu has worked with Ly for two years, helping the singer remix her songs in a chamber music style.
Evening highlights will include romantic songs Chenh Venh (Unstable Feeling) and Mua Yeu (The Season of Love), named the best songs of 2008 and 2010 by Viet Nam Television and The Thao &Van Hoa (Sports & Culture) magazine.
New songs like Con Bao Nghieng Dem (Night Storm) and Ta Hua Se Nhan Ra (I Promise I Will Know) will also be featured.
Ly’s works, which feature simple words but an expressive style, encourage youth to learn more about the beauty of the Vietnamese language.
Ly studies music and began her professional career when she was 19 years old, after winning the prize for Best Song of 2008 from Viet Nam Television’s Vietnamese Songs Programme, a music contest that encourages songwriters.
Her first album released in 2011, titled her name Le Cat Trong Ly, became a hit though it received mixed reviews.
She has organised live shows and performed in music programmes in Ha Noi, Quy Nhon, Hue, Da Nang and HCM City.
Her soundtracks for Vietnamese blockbusters, such as Tam Cam -- Chuyen Chua Ke (Tam Cam -- The Untold Stories), Scandal Bi Mat Tham Do (Scandal) and Cuoc Doi Cua Yen (The Case of Yen), are top hits on online music forums.
The show will take place on September 28 and 29 at the HCM City Opera House at 7 Lam Son Square in District 1.
