On the morning of April 10, the Hai Phong Party Committee held a conference to announce the Politburo’s decision on personnel work. Attending the event were Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Central Organization Commission Nguyen Duy Ngoc; Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau; along with leaders of the city’s Party Committee, People’s Committee, and representatives from various departments and agencies.

At the conference, Deputy Head of the Central Organization Commission Nguyen Thanh Binh announced the Politburo’s decision to approve Le Ngoc Chau, a member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Hai Phong Party Committee, Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee, and Head of the city’s National Assembly delegation, to serve as Party Secretary of the Hai Phong Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.

Le Ngoc Chau, born in 1972 and originally from Dai Thanh commune in Hanoi, holds a doctorate in law.

Before assuming his new role, he held various positions, including Head of the Personnel Organization Division under the Department of Security Protection and Judicial Support Police, General Department of Police under the Ministry of Public Security; Deputy Commander of the Mobile Police High Command; Director of Hai Phong City Police; Director of Hai Duong Provincial Police; Commander of the Mobile Police High Command; Chairman of the Hai Duong Provincial People’s Committee; and later Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee.

Earlier, on April 8, during the first session of the 16th National Assembly, Le Tien Chau, then a member of the 14th Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Hai Phong Party Committee, was appointed Deputy Prime Minister for the 2026-2031 term.
