VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnam’s top chess player Le Quang Liem has accepted an invitation to play for a chess club in Moscow at the tournament for the strongest chess clubs in Russia. This is the opportunity for Liem to see the world’s top players.

This is a 7-round, Swiss system tournament that will take place from April 7 to 13. The event has the participation of the 20 strongest chess clubs in Russia. Le Quang Liem plays for the SSM-64 club.

Liem is the teammate with excellent players such as Gelfan (Elo 2740) who has just returned from the Candidates tournament), Nepomniachtchi (Elo 2708, 2013 Aeroflot blitz chess champion), Wojtaszek (Poland’s top player, Elo 2700,) Fabio Caruana (the world’s top young player from Italy, Elo 2772), and others Russian players whose Elo are approximately 2600 to 2650, including Kobalia, Najer, Dubov and Vorobiev.

Liem’s rivals from other clubs are also famous players from around the world, such as Karjakin (Elo 2786), Grischuk (Elo 2764), Ivanchuk (Elo 2757) Svidler (Elo 2747), Mamedyarov (Elo 2766) , Ponomariov (Elo 2733) and Giri (Elo 2727).

Facing the world’s top players, Le Quang Liem will accumulate more experience as well as have the opportunity to accumulate elo.

He sees this tournament as good preparation for the Asian chess championship held in Philippines from May 17 to 25. Before that, Liem will compete in the rapid and blitz chess championship in HCM City from April 27 through May 3.
