Sources revealed on June 16 that the Ministry's Investigation Police Agency had apprehended two key figures from the hospital: Dr. Le Van Hung, Director, and Dr. Nguyen Thanh Cong, Deputy Director. Simultaneously, authorities conducted searches at their respective workplaces and residences.
These actions mark a significant escalation as the Ministry expands its investigation into suspected violations linked to medical practices at the Bien Hoa Central Forensic Psychiatric Hospital, situated in Tan Phong Ward, Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai Province.
Detailed specifics regarding the ongoing investigation and related cases at the institute have yet to be disclosed by the Ministry of Public Security.
Earlier, on June 13, the Ministry detained Nguyen Van Trong, a specialist doctor and Head of the Department of Compulsory Treatment of Men 1, alongside Ha Ngoc Khanh, a doctor within the same department. Several other doctors and department heads from the hospitalhave also been arrested or summoned.
According to the latest report sent by the hospital to the Ministry of Health today, to date, the C02 Department of the Ministry of Public Security has arrested and summoned a total of 11 current officials from the hospital, along with 2 retired officials.
Established under Prime Ministerial Decision No. 1836/QD-TTg on October 29, 2015, the Bien Hoa Central Forensic Psychiatric Hospita was formed through the upgrade of the Southern Branch of the Central Hospital of Forensic Psychiatry under the Ministry of Health.
The Hospital's responsibilities include forensic psychiatric evaluations as mandated by procedural law and the Law on Judicial Assessment. It also engages in scientific research, contributes to training and international collaboration in forensic psychiatry, and oversees psychiatric assessments for the Southern Regional Forensic Psychiatric Centers.
