Leaders pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh





A delegation of leaders of the Party, State, Government, National Assembly and Vietnam Fatherland Front on May 18 laid a wreath in tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum on the occasion of the 122nd anniversary of his birth.

Prominent at the ceremony were Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Truong Tan Sang, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Huynh Dam.

Former Party General Secretaries Le Kha Phieu, Nong Duc Manh, former State President Tran Duc Luong, former National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Van An, former President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Pham The Duyet and other senior leaders and revolutionary veterans also joined the delegation.

Also on May 18, a delegation of Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Public Security officials visited Ho Chi Minh mausoleum and laid a wreath in tribute to the nation’s beloved leader.

On the occasion, the Presidential Office’s Party Committee held a ceremony to present Party membership badges to six senior officials of the office.

President Truong Tan Sang conferred a 30-year Party membership badge on Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan.

Doan expressed her happiness at receiving the noble award, asking Party members to continue to try their best to unite to build a strong Party and contribute to national construction and defence.

In commemoration of President Ho Chi Minh, an exhibition displaying paintings and sculptures of Uncle Ho was held at Ho Chi Minh Museum in the central province of Thua Thien Hue on May 18.

The exhibition includes 220 works of art created by Colonel Le Duy Ung, a disabled war veteran.

President HCM’s 122nd birthday marked in Russia

Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Pham Xuan Son laid a wreath at the President Ho Chi Minh Statute in Moscow on May 18 to mark late President Ho Chi Minh’s 122nd birthday anniversary.    

Joining the ceremony were Vietnamese Embassy staff, representatives from Vietnamese agencies, the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association and the Russian War Veteran Association, Russian friends and overseas Vietnamese in Russia.

Earlier, they also offered incense at the Uncle Ho memorial area of the Vietnamese Embassy.

Loksin Grigori, a Russian friend, said he was lucky to meet Uncle Ho several times, which made a deep impression on him. “President Ho Chi Minh is a great man, a famous politician in the history of Asia and the great thinker and leader of Vietnam,” Grigori said.

“Under his leadership, the Vietnamese people gained independence and freedom. Every year Russian friends often lay flowers on his statute,” Grigori added.

The Ho Chi Minh Museum in coordination with the Lenin Museum organized an exhibition in Ulianovsk City on the same day to display items, pictures and photographs of President Ho Chi Minh.  The event attracted a large number of Vietnamese residents and local people in Ulianovsk.

Nationwide activities mark President HCM’s birthday

Diverse activities have been held throughout the country to celebrate late President Ho Chi Minh’s 122nd birth anniversary.

The northern mountainous province of Ha Giang held a ceremony to present prizes and review one year of launching a contest to compose and promote literature and artistic works and media products about the “Studying and following late President’s moral example” campaign. Meanwhile, a similar ceremony has also been held by the Hoa Binh’s provincial Commission on Education and Communication.

*** An exhibition on President Ho Chi Minh with Party building and rectification was held on May 18 at the HCM Museum in Danang City. The exhibition displayed 140 documents and photos highlighting HCM’s thoughts and contributions to building the Party in each revolutionary period.

Another exhibition took place in the south-central province of Binh Thuan the same day. It displayed nearly 100 photos featuring events, testaments, works and drafts on HCM and the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).

The important historical documents recorded HCM’s contributions to the cause of building and leading the CPV, as well as the socialist building process.

*** The southern province of Binh Duong has launched a tree-planting ceremony to celebrate HCM’s 122nd birthday and the 53rd anniversary of his launch of the tree-planting movement.

*** On May 18, the southern province of Soc Trang celebrated HCM’s birthday and the tenth anniversary of the establishment of Cu Lao Dung district in the province. Delegates paid tribute to the Temple of HCM in An Thach Dong commune where today’s young generations are educated about patriotism.

President HCM’s 122nd birthday celebrated in Thailand

The 122nd birth anniversary of late President Ho Chi Minh was celebrated by the Mukdahan Overseas Vietnamese Association Chapter in Bangkok, Thailand on May 13 in the presence of Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Ngo Duc Thang.

Present at the ceremony were also representatives from different overseas Vietnamese associations in Thailand, the Thailand-Vietnam Culture Association, intellectuals and more than 100 overseas Vietnamese.

In her speech, Chairwoman of the Chapter Dang Mai Tuan said overseas Vietnamese in Thailand are always determined to reinforce great national unity to defend and develop Vietnam into a prosperous nation according to President HCM’s teachings.

Overseas Vietnamese expressed delight at their homeland’s achievements in various fields and showed their great respect when recalling HCM’s activities in Thailand, where he used to live and work.

On the occasion, Ambassador Thang said that the Vietnamese community in Bangkok has set up a provisional executive board which pioneers community-based activities to promote the ties of friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand.
