Mr. Nguyen Xuan Son has resigned as Chairman of PetroVietnam (PVN) to take up a new position at the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), effective from July 19, according a decision signed by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung after proposals from MoIT and the Office of the Government.
Born in 1962 in north-central Ha Tinh province, Mr. Son was appointed Chairman of PVN in July of last year. He previously held key roles in PVN and was a member of the Board of Directors at Ocean Bank.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh, General Director of PVN, will temporarily take over as PVN Chairman.
Mr. Khanh was appointed General Director in November of last year. Also born in Ha Tinh, in 1960, he was the General Director of PVOil before moving to PVN.
