VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnam’s top cellist Ngo Hoang Quan will join the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra in a concert entitled “A night of Dvorak”.
The concert, which will take place under the baton of Japanese conductor Tetsuji Honna at the Hanoi Opera House on December 16 and 17, will introduce compositions by famous Czech composer Antonín Leopold Dvořák.
Cellist Ngo Hoang Quan was born in 1956 into a musical family in Hanoi. He was introduced to the art of violoncello at a very young age by his father, Professor Hoang Duong, the meritorious teacher of the Hanoi Conservatory of Music, now the Vietnam National Academy of Music.
After graduating with honors from the Hanoi Conservatory of Music in 1974, he studied at the Tchaikovsky Institute of Music in Moscow in 1976.
Since 1982 he has been the director and soloist of the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra. He has given performances at home and abroad.
