One of the major retailers coming to the event to seek suppliers is Falabella, the largest retailer in Latin America which boasts a system of 577 stores and shopping centres in Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Uruguay.
Currently, Vietnamese products have direct access to 35 million regular customers in the store system in Latin America through retailer Falabella.
According to the group’s purchasing representative, Falabella plans to expand to purchase products in the fields of textiles and garments, footwear, sportswear, electrical appliances, and household appliances from the Vietnamese market.
Meanwhile, Mexican retailer Coppel has also shown a keen interest in products originating from Vietnam, such as fashionable clothes, shoes, technology accessories, and household furniture to supply more than 1,600 branches in Mexico and 27 stores in Argentina.
Moreover, a representative of Latiquim C.A Group, one of the leading manufacturers and distributors of chemicals for the food and beverage industry, unveiled that the company wishes to seek partners and strive to enhance sustainable cooperation in Vietnam, especially in the field of sulfonic acid and phosphoric acid production.
In addition, renowned retail giant Walmart of the United States has said that it intends to purchase textiles and garments, footwear, interior and exterior goods, household goods, toys and other items, and frozen food products from the Vietnamese market. This is part of Walmart’s efforts to meet the rising needs of consumers in Latin America.
Experts say, there are bright prospects ahead for Vietnamese exports in the Latin American region which has 33 countries and an import demand of nearly US$1,500 billion annually.
Within the past five years, two-way trade turnover between Latin America and the country has doubled from US$14.2 billion in 2018 to US$20.6 billion in 2023.
