VietNamNet Bridge - A workshop where attendees will learn how to embroider traditional Thai motifs on  textiles and the meaning of patterns such as mythical animals (dragon, phoenix), wild animals (elephant, horse, deer, turtle, tiger), plants, flowers, objects of everyday life and Vietnamese letters, will be held on July 1 at Café Moon, N° 203, 2nd floor, Apartment Building CT5A, Me Tri Thuong Ward, Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi.

Hand embroidery is an heirloom technique mastered by Thai ethnic artisans in Quy Chau district of the central province of Nghe An. Let’s join master weaver Sam Thi Tinh, a Thai ethnic woman who was born in traditional brocade Hoa Tien village of Quy Chau – Nghe An, at the workshop to learn about Thai hand embroidery.

Artisan Tinh grew up with her grandmother, mother and other Thai women who were expert artisans, learned how to weave, dye and embroider since her childhood, and lives in Hanoi now to sustain and develop traditional craftsmanship for Hoa Tien brocade cooperative led by her mom since its foundation on 2010.

The workshop will be conducted in Vietnamese by trainee Sam Thi Tinh, and will be translated in English and French.

The cost is VND500,000 ($25), including 50 cm width of cotton and embroidery tools used on the day.
