Located on Nghia Thuc, a jewelry street in HCMC’s District 5, Vietnam Silver House is the nation’s first place where tourists can learn about everything about silver-work in Vietnam, have a chance to become a real silversmith and make jewelry on their own, or buy high quality silver jewelry.

Originally a factory and a wholesale silver jewelry store in Saigon - Cho Lon with 22 years of experience, Vietnam Silver House was established in early 2018.

“I and my friend founded Vietnam Silver House to introduce the quintessence of silver-work in Vietnam to international guests and bring the special culture of silver-work closer to the daily life of the Vietnamese,” said Le Quoc Ky, director of the center.

Vietnam Silver House consists of a traditional silver-work exhibition room where tourists will learn about the history of the silver industry in Vietnam, famous traditional silver villages and handicrafts such as jewelry, furnishing items and household appliances.

They can also watch a documentary on the silver jewelry making process in the Documentary Movie Room.

In the Silversmithing Workshop, tourists can visit the workplace of silversmiths and see how they do from simple to complicated techniques such as grinding, filing, polishing and welding.

They can make silver jewelry themselves thanks to careful instructions by artisans in the 90-minute Silver Making Class which costs VND250,000 per person, including material to make a silver ring.

The center’s showroom features a wide variety of products designed and carved by skilled artisans, with inspiration from Vietnam’s cultural symbols such as non la (conical hat), ao dai (long dress), grasshopper and lantern.

The center is open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. everyday.

District 5 authorities last year introduced Nghia Thuc as the first jewelry street in the city, which serves as the business venue for jewelry traders and goldsmiths, and as a tourist attraction.
