The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has agreed with Park’s proposal to dispatch Lee to the UAE with the U23 side.
Lee will be supported by coach assistant Ngo Tuan Vinh, goalkeeper Nguyen Duc Canh and fitness coach Cedric Rogers during the tournament.
Thirty-two players have been called up for training in the lead up to the Dubai Cup 2022 which is due to take place from March 23 – 29.
According to the organizing board, Vietnam will take on Iraq on March 23 and Croatia three days later.
The tournament will see the participation of 10 U23 teams, namely Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Croatia, Japan, Qatar, Vietnam, China, Iraq, and hosts the UAE.
The friendly series will a big test for U23 Vietnam ahead of the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) that will be held in Vietnam from May 12 to 23.
Park is recovering from his COVID-19 infection. However, he will not be able to coach the U23 team in the UAE as he will be busy with the national team’s last two World Cup qualifiers against Oman and Japan in late May.
