Let’s discover the longest flower-ceramic road in Vietnam
The southern province of Vinh Long on February 2 opened a flower-red ceramic road to the public, which received certification from the Vietnam Records Organization (Vietkings) as the longest of its kind in Vietnam.
The 700m long and 200m wide road showcases more than 2,000 ceramic products created by ceramic kilns in Vinh Long.
The project which has been designed to celebrate 94 years of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the coming lunar New Year holiday (Tet), has a total investment of about VND6.8 billion, sourced mainly from businesses.
The flower-red ceramic road stretches from the Welcome Gate to the Administrative Building of the Provincial People’s Committee.
The project recreates the history of Vinh Long’s ceramic firing industry originating from brick kilns more than a century ago.
In 1995, Vinh Long had more than 900 brick kilns capable of churning out approximately 500 million bricks of different kinds a year.
Vinh Long has most brick kilns in the western region of Vietnam, operating in a total area of 30km in Vinh Long city of the province of the same name, and two districts of Long Ho and Mang Thit.
Ceramic production in Vinh Long has its own unique characteristics that are not confused with other traditional occupations. Each family can also be a separate workshop.
Each part of the flower-ceramic road has been arranged in a way that carries its own meaningful message, expressing the wisdom and cultural identity of Vietnamese people in general and local in particular.
The Vietnam Records Organization (Vietkings) has recognized the Vinh Long flower-red ceramic road as the longest of its kind in Vietnam.
The road is open to the public for admiration and check-ins from February 2 to 19.
