Vietnam’s top chess player, Le Quang Liem, ended up in fourth place with a total of three points at the 2012 ACP Golden Chess Classic in the Netherlands, which officially wrapped up July 22.





On the final day of competition, Liem (Elo 2693) played confidently and drew with Israeli rival Emil Sutovsky (Elo 2687) in 51 moves to secure the fourth position in the tournament with two wins, two draws and two losses after six games.

Ukrainian Vasily Ivanchuk (Elo 2769) was crowned champion with five points, followed by the USA’s Gata Kamsky (Elo 2744) in second place with 4.5 points and Emil Sutovsky from Israel in third with 3.5 points.

The tournament took place in Amsterdam from July 12 to 22 and featured seven international Grandmasters, including Le Quang Liem (Vietnam), Vasily Ivanchuk (Ukraine), Gata Kamsky (USA), Baadur Jobava (Georgia), Krisnan Sasikiran (India), Anna Muzychuk (Slovenia) and Emil Sutovsky (Israel).
