According to a report from the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, Lien Khuong Airport is serving an average of 40 domestic flights with 6,700 passengers daily this year.
The airport has also served 1,623 international flights with 237,783 passengers since the first international route was opened to South Korea in 2017.
At present, there are six flights per week on the Lien Khuong-Incheon route, which has helped boost the local economy, the committee said, adding that Singapore was also a potential market.
The committee proposed that Vietjet launch an air route to Singapore.
In the national airport development master plan for the 2021-2030 period, Lien Khuong International Airport will be upgraded with an estimated design capacity of about five million passengers a year.
