VietNamNet Bridge – In a downpour on the afternoon of August 23, lightening struck K3 Zone in Gia Trung Prison in Mang Yang district of the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai, killing two and injuring 20 others.

All victims are workers of the Thuy Ha Company, who were planting acacia in the zone. They were brought to a local hospital in critical condition.

At around 4pm of August 23, a downpour occurred, accompanied with thunder and thunderbolts, for over one hour in Mang Yang district. Workers sheltered themselves from the rain in four huts, which are 30m from each other.

Witnesses said that lightning struck powerfully into the four tents. All the tents were burnt and collapsed.

Two workers died on the spot while 20 others were seriously injured.
