DrAid™ CT Liver Cancer was awarded the gold prize at The ASEAN Digital Awards 2024. Why did you choose ASEAN Digital Awards?

In general, Vietnam’s technology firms, especially in the field of AI, need to prove their capability in the international playing field. We consider ASEAN Digital Awards as a highly valuable opportunity for VinBrain to join this playing field.

Secondly DrAid™ CT Liver Cancer is not only a practical application, but also a testament to high-quality research. The publications in scientific journals, including Nature, is firm evidence of the originality of the product.

VinBrain wants to expand its presence in regional markets, including Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. The prize serves as an important leverage that helps us attract attention and gain confidence from the international community.

How does VinBrain’s solution solve problems against the other competitors at ASEAN Digital Awards 2024?

If you look at the items competing at ASEAN Digital Awards 2024, you may see that most attendees competed in the fields of finance, education and corporate governance, while there were very few products in the healthcare sector.

The statistics about the number of people suffering from or dying of liver cancer (the 5-year survival rate of liver cancer patients is the lowest among cancers, and the proportion of liver cancer patients in Vietnam is even higher than lung cancer) makes us aware of the emergency and importance in seeking groundbreaking solutions to face the challenge.

What is most outstanding about VinBrain’s solution in comparison with others introduced before?

DrAid™ CT Liver Cancer allows early screening of minor lesions, as small as just 5 mm, located on the liver thanks to the application of the most advanced machine learning technologies.

Also, the application of the most advanced image processing technologies also improves the accuracy of the solution. Many new methods are applied, such as wavelet radiomics to diversify the way of representing hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells – the most malignant liver lesions. These unique properties have been published on Nature.

In the world, there are few methods for localizing liver lesions and tumors based on multiphase CT images like the DrAid™ Liver Cancer by VinBrain due to the complexity of phases. VinBrain’s solution is better as it can classify four types of lesions, including HCC, other malignancies, benign lesions, and lesions of unknown nature.

VinBrain is following procedures to commercialize the solution in the US and awaiting certificates from the US FDA.
