Over the past seven years, Samsung and Oppo have held the top and second position in the Vietnamese smartphone market in terms of sales. Despite the occasional increase and decrease in market share, these two firms have never lost their position.

Since then, the battle of other smartphone companies in Vietnam has mainly focused on the 3rd place, after the two companies. In the past one year, the top 3 include Xiaomi, Vivo, Apple. At this time two years ago, Vsmart occupied the third position, but this company has withdrawn from the market.

According to GfK’s research, in February 2022, Samsung and Oppo continued to hold the No. 1 and No. 2 positions in the market. The next position belonged to Xiaomi, with 14.2% market share, quite close to Oppo's No. 2 position. Vivo and Apple ranked 4th and 5th. Last month, Xiaomi still held the No. 3 position.

Until February 2022 Vivo and Xiaomi took turns holding the 3rd position in the market, while Apple mostly held the 5th position. This showed that Xiaomi and Vivo are equal in their ability to capture and master the market. The market shares of these two companies increased depending on whether they released new products.

In addition to the five most prominent names mentioned above, Realme - Oppo's subsidiary - also has a good market share and regularly ranked at 4th, 5th, and 6th in the market.

According to GfK's data, in October 2021, the whole market sold 1.788 million smartphones, the highest in the last 12 months. Last October was the time when Vietnam opened its doors for the first time after the lockdown, so purchasing power surged.

Experts predict there will be no major changes in the ranking of smartphone brands in 2022. Previously, Xiaomi set a target of ranking first in Vietnam this year or holding at least 25% of the market share.
