The lithophone, found by a local farmer named Bui Huu Trieu in 1996, becomes the first national treasure of the province. He had found 26 pieces of an ancient musical instrument lying next to each other while digging in his garden in Loc Hoa Commune, Loc Ninh District.

Since it was found, the lithophone has been studied at home and abroad, and experts believe it was created by ancient people more than 3,000 years ago.

The lithophone would be displayed to the public, according to Pham Huu Hien, deputy director of the Binh Phuoc Province Museum.
