Four rowers, including Luong Thi Thao, Bui Thi Thu Hien, Nguyen Thi Giang, and Pham Thi Thao, claimed the third spot to collect a bronze medal in the women's four event at the Fuyang Water Sports Centre.
The Chinese side dominated the event during the competition. Elsewhere, teams such as Iran, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, and Vietnam all tried hard as they fought over second and third places.
Iran showed strong skills to surpass the likes of Indonesia, Kazakhstan, and Vietnam in the middle of the race.
China proved their power to ultimately finish first, followed by Iran and Vietnam.
In the women’s eight competition, Vietnamese rowers won yet another bronze medal. The hosts China topped the list and Japan came in second position.
This marks the second and third bronze medal that Vietnamese rowers have brought home at ASIAD 19. On September 24 four rowers took a bronze, the first medal for the country, in the women’s heavy weight single scull.
The same day saw Taekwondo martial artist Tran Ho Duy bag the second bronze medal for Vietnam at ASIAD 19 after being defeated by a Korean opponent in the men's individual poomsae. So far, Vietnamese athletes have won a total of four bronze medals.
ASIAD 19 commenced on September 23 and the event is scheduled to last through to October 8 in Hangzhou, China.
The 504-strong Vietnamese sports delegation, including 337 athletes, will compete in 31 out of the 40 sports available.
Vietnam aim to pocket up to five gold medals at ASIAD 19, close to the achievement recorded at the ASIAD 18 in Indonesia in 2018, which is the most successful Asian Games of a Vietnamese sporting delegation to date, with five gold medals won in the women's rowing, athletics, women’s long jump, men's pencak silat, and women’s 400m hurdles.
