VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnamese coaches Mai Duc Chung and Phan Thanh Hung have changed their mind and agreed to lead the men's national team and the under-23 team.

The positions were left empty after Henrique Calisto resigned early this month.

The Viet Nam Football Federation (VFF) originally said the jobs were open to foreigners and locals, but added that they preferred the national job to go to a foreigner.

However, foreigners requested such high salaries that the teams could not afford.

Chung, who is now working for Navibank Sai Gon club, changed his point of view. He previously said that a Vietnamese coach should receive at least one quarter to one third of a foreign coach's pay. Calisto received US$24,000 a month.

The VFF met two weeks ago and agreed to give local coaches better working conditions, including a better salary, although it will not be $10,000 a month.

And Chung has said he will shake hands with the VFF if the national football governing body offers a good contract.

Meanwhile Hung, who is in charge of V-League defending champion Ha Noi T&T, said he was ready to work free for the U23. He said he was satisfied with the salary received from T&T.
