In the group stage of the competition, the local athletes won all three matches with a score of 2-0 before continuing to trounce their Laotian rivals 2-0 in the semi-final round.
The final match witnessed an intense competition between Vietnam and the host country China, with the game ultimately ending 2-0 in favour of the Vietnamese players.
The ASEAN Cup International Sepak takraw Invitational 2023 got underway in Kunming of China from November 17 and will last through to November 27.
This marks the fifth championship title in this year which was awarded to the Vietnamese women's sepak takraw team. This comes following October 4 when the four-member Vietnamese women's sepak takraw squad claimed a gold medal at the 19th Asian Games (ASIAD 2023) in Hangzhou city of Zhejiang province in China.
At the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 32) Vietnam lost to Thailand to take home a silver medal in the women's sepak takraw four-member team category.
Vietnam also took a gold medal after defeating Indonesia 2-0 at the King's Cup 2023 Sepak Takraw tournament, which is also the 2023 Sepak takraw World Championship.
