The film will compete in the Generation category alongside 16 other films, with the judge choosing the winners of the best film and giving special mentions for outstanding achievements.
“My father’s truck” is a coming-of-age road film that tells the story of 10-year-old Nhi as she skips school one day to help her father with his truck-for-hire.
In the countryside of the northern region, Nhi is soon confronted with some harsh realities as she learns how things really are outside the classroom.
The movie is the feature film debut of Brazilian director Mauricio Osaki and involves the participation of Vietnamese actors and actresses, including people’s artists Trung Anh, Nhu Quynh, and Kieu Trinh.
Berlinale was first held in 1951. Since then it has been held annually and has grown into one of the world's largest public film festivals, thereby becoming an indispensable forum for the global film community.
At the 2021 Berlin International Film Festival, Vietnamese film Vị (Taste) won a Special Jury Award in the Encounters category.
The event is set to take place from February 10 to February 20, 2022.
