ixRoad Travel Company specializing in adventure tours started operating in HCMC on Sunday, offering lighthouse exploration tour programs across the country.

Ho Huu Luc, director of the travel firm, said the firm cooperates with Southern Vietnam Maritime Safety Corporation to launch lighthouse exploration trips from the central Quang Ngai Province southward. In the first phase from now to the end of this year, ixRoad will organize tours to eight lighthouses including Mui Dinh, Hon Chut, Hon Lon, Ganh Den, Mui Dien, Mui Ke Ga, Cu Lao Xanh and Binh Hung.

Its tours are classified into seven levels. At level 1, guests will gain first experiences of adventure trips while those at level 7 will have to fight for survival.

Adventurers will sleep inside tents, use self-made toilets and equipment provided by the company instead of staying at a hotel. The travel firm arranges trips for groups of up to 30 guests each with the price of around VND4.2 million a person.

ixRoad has arranged some tours on a pilot basis for three months and got positive feedback from customers. In the long term, it will organize tours to lighthouses nationwide and offer other products such as meetings-incentives-conferences-exhibitions (MICE) and team-building tours, he said.

According to Pham Tuan Anh, deputy general director of Southern Vietnam Maritime Safety Corporation, the firm now manages 54 lighthouses from Quang Ngai to the south, including nine on the Truong Sa (Spratly) Islands and four on oilrigs.
