Local movie “Kieu” to attend Newport Beach Film Festival

The Vietnamese movie “Kieu”, a new film based on the 18th-century Vietnamese epic poem “Truyen Kieu” known as “The Tale of Kieu” in English has been selected to participate in the upcoming Newport Beach Film Festival (NBFF).

Vietnamese movie “Kieu", produced by Mai Thu Huyen, will attend the upcoming Newport Beach Film Festival (NBFF) in the US.
 


The film has also been chosen as the event’s Vietnamese Spotlight Film so will therefore be screened in the United States.

The movie portrays the story of Thuy Kieu, a talented young woman who was forced to sacrifice herself in order to save her family, and her love for Tu Hai, the local leader of a rebel gang. 

Recognised as one of the largest luxury lifestyle film festivals in the US, the NBFF serves to bring an international curated collection of films and vibrant cultural gatherings to the beautiful Southern California coast.

This year’s festival is scheduled to take place from October 21 to October 28.
