The event is set to see “Memento Mori: Water” by director Marcus Manh Cuong Vu, and “If Wood Could Cry, It Would Cry Blood” directed by Nguyen Phan Linh Dan, represent Vietnam at the festival.

“Memento Mori: Water” tells the story of Ha, a mother who accompanies her son suffering from bone cancer. The film is currently in pre-production and is expected to start filming in 2022 before premiering in 2023.

Nguyen Phan Linh Dan is a familiar name to observers of the Busan Film Festival, having previously participated in the event back in 2019 as a director of photography for “The Secret of the Wind”.

This year marks the first time that she will join the festival as a director of a film project after working on a series of music videos, commercials, and short films.

The 24th Asian Project Market will be held virtually amid the ongoing COVID-19 fight, gathering directors and producers of 26 film projects from 15 countries worldwide.

In another event, “Who Created Human Beings” by director Le Binh Giang will be introduced at the Open Doors programme of the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland from August 4 to August 14.

The film tells the story of a policeman named Sinh and his girlfriend Linh who are both Catholic. The project helps audiences to explore the various differences between older and younger generations.

There are plans in place to start filming in a mountainous village during the rainy season next year.
