This is Huyen’s very first public solo performance. “La Vie, L’Amour” is the fruit of all her hard work in one year to create an authentic opera performance for the city’s audience. Pieces presented in the show are well-chosen from famous arietta and aria extracts of French operetta and opera such as Offenbach, Strauss, Audran, Bizet, Saint-Saens, and Delibes.

The show consists of two parts under the baton of conductor Brian Riedlinger. The first part, performed solo by Thanh Huyen, is called “La Vie” (Life), reflecting the multifaceted life of artists through extracts such as “Je ne suis pas ce que l’on pense” (I am not like what you think) of the operetta Les trois Valse by Oscar Straus, “J’ai deux amants” (I have two lovers) from “L’amour masque” by André Messager. In the second part, “L’Amour” (Love), Huyen will jointly perform with other artists such as local artist Ta Minh Tam, Vo Ngoc Tuyen, Korean artist Cho Hae Ryong, Hagim in extracts about love from classic operas like Romeo & Juliette by Gounaud, “Samson et Dalila” by Saint-Saens, and Carmen by Bizet.

Thanh Huyen has a rare Mezzo-Soprano voice in HCMC. She had a full scholarship to study vocals at HCMC Conservatory of Music with the instruction of veteran artist Ta Minh Tam and attend a refresher course on music in France. Thanh Huyen is now a soloist of the HCMC Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO) and has participated in many of the troupe’s local and foreign shows over the years such as Messiah, The Creation or opera The Magic Flute.

Admission costs VND50,000-VND100,000 per person.
