VietNamNet Bridge – Four Vietnamese referees have been invited to head to the London Olympics. They are Vu Xuan Thanh (taekwondo), Nguyen Dinh Nghia (boxing), Bui Dinh Cuong (gymnastics) and Nguyen Thanh Ha (badminton).
This is the biggest group of Vietnamese referees yet involved in the Games.
Thanh took part in the 2000 Sydney Olympics, when taekwondo martial artist Tran Hieu Ngan won a silver medal.
* HCM City volleyball tournament opens
The HCM City Open International Volleyball Championships will open this Friday at the Rach Mieu Gymnasium in Phu Nhuan District with the participation of six teams from three countries.
Hosts Viet Nam have four teams from the provinces of Long An, Khanh Hoa, Gia Lai and HCM City while two foreign teams are from Shanghai of China and Thai Royal Air Force Club of Thailand.
The total prize money for the competition is VND360 million or US$18,000.
The tournament will wrap up on July 27.
