Huong narrowly beat out fellow singer Vo Ha Tram, beauty queen Truong Thi May, and actress Viet Trinh from Vietnam, as well as US actress Maggie Q.

International stars who fared well in the competition included former US President Bill Clinton, musicians Jason Mraz, Faye Wong, Khalil Fong and Paul McCartney, talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres, and actors Natalie Portman, Tobey Maguire, Jared Leto, and Anne Hathaway.

Ho Quynh Huong is famous for her strikingly sensual voice, winning her Lan Song Xanh's Most Popular Singer Award four years in a row. She also received a Singer of the Year nomination for the Commitment Award in 2012.

“I used to force myself to follow a strict diet when I was eating meat, but this is no longer a concern. Ever since adopting a vegetarian diet, my weight has been kept under control,” she said.

PETA Asia Vice President Jason Baker claimed there's no easier way to put passion in life than to put compassion in diet. “Ho Quynh Huong knows that going vegetarian is the best thing that you can do for animals, the Earth, and your health. Plus, she's living proof that being vegetarian keeps you slim and sexy," he said.

Winners were selected according to criteria that included vote count. The complete list of vegetarian celebrities who were in the running for this year's awards is available at PETAAsiaPacific.com.

Chinese actor and singer Chen Kun won the title of Asia's Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity Man.
