VietNamNet Bridge – Storm Rumbia has passed Luzon island in the Philippines to enter the eastern part of the East Sea.
This is the third storm in the East Sea so far this year.
Deputy Director of the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorology Forecasting Le Thanh Hai said at 7am on June 30, the wind speeds in the eye of the storm reached 62-74km per hour.
It is forecast to move northwest at a speed of about 20-25km per hour.
At 7am on July 1, the storm’s eye will be about 230km east-northeast of the Hoang Sa (Paracel) Archipelago.
Hai added that the storm is not likely to enter the Tonkin Gulf. However, it will cause medium to heavy rains on a large scale in the north and northeast from July 1 to 3.
The National Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control and the Committee for Search and Rescue sent a telegram on June 30 urging provinces from Quang Ninh to Phu Yen to prepare to cope with the storm.
These localities should closely monitor ships and other vessels operating on the sea and update them continually on the storm’s movement so they can move out of potentially dangerous areas.
