VietNamNet Bridge - Assigned to demolish a fake tower in Vam Co Dong resort, four workers cut the roof, making the concrete ceiling fall down. The incident took the life of two people.

On the afternoon of July 1, the accident occurred during the destruction of a fake tower made of reinforced concrete in Vam Co Dong Resort in Thanh Duc commune, Ben Luc district, Long An province, killed two young men. The two others escaped death by quickly jumping running out of the tower.

According to the two lucky workers, in the early afternoon, four workers were assigned to break the fake tower located around 25m from the main entrance of the resort. Failing to break the tower from the top, the workers decided to cut down the roof.

Because of asynchronous destruction, one side of the ceiling was leaning and collapsed, killing Le Thanh Binh, 27 and Nguyen Van Tien, 22. After one hour buried under the rubble, a crane lifted the concrete block to pull the bodies out.

The incident caused traffic jams on Highway 1A passing Hamlet 1, Thanh Duc commune for hours.

The cause of the accident is being investigated.
