Long An completes foreign quota

Dong Tam Long An has signed former player Mrwanda Danny David to complete their quota of three foreigners in their line-up.

The V-League side had tried-out a number of players, but finalised with the Tanzanian striker who played with Long An in 2011.

In 2012, David moved teams to complete a half season for SHB Da Nang, who later dropped him because of his poor performance.

David returned to Viet Nam after remaining in his hometown for 18 months. He first came to test at the First Division's Tay Ninh, and in the final minutes agreed to sign with Long An.

Apart from David, Long An have two other foreigners: defender Laerte Junior and midfielder Gilson CamPos. Both are from Brazil.

Binh Phuoc win test of stamina

Binh Phuoc came out on top at the national cross-country mountain-climbing tournament 2013, which took place on Ba Ra mountain in the south-eastern province of Binh Phuoc on Monday.

In the professional men's category, Hoang Nguyen Thanh of the host set a new record with a time of 33min 42sec in the 7.7km distance, beating the old record by 20 seconds. Second and third place belonged to Tran Van Loi of Binh Phuoc and Do Quoc Luat of the Military team.

Binh Phuoc continued to maintain the lead by Vu Thi Trang with a record of 33:08 in the professional women's 5.4km category, while the runner-up was Phung Thi Hang ofthe Military team, while third place went to Nguyen Thi Xuan Tot of Khanh Hoa.

In the professional team event, Binh Phuoc won the men's side and Khanh Hoa achieved victory on the women's side.

In the youth (amateur) men's 6km category, Dinh Hoang Phuc of Lam Dong reached first place, while Nguyen Thi Hong Van of Binh Phuoc came in first place in the youth women's 5.4km category.

The top position in both youth men's and women's team also belonged to Binh Phuoc.

The annual tournament saw about 1,000 athletes from nine provinces across the country.
