According to the official holiday schedule approved by the Prime Minister, civil servants, public employees, and workers in administrative agencies, political organizations, and socio-political organizations will have time off from Saturday, January 25 (the 26th day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Dragon) to Sunday, February 2 (the 5th day of the Year of the Snake).

This year’s Tet holiday spans nine days, including five official days and four weekend days, as stipulated by the Labor Code.

The official Tet holiday period lasts from Monday, January 27, to Friday, January 31. The weekend days before and after these dates extend the holiday duration.

Guidelines for private sector companies

The Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs (MOLISA) encourages businesses to follow the outlined holiday schedule.

For companies not covered by the public sector’s schedule, employers can choose one of the following options:

One day off before Lunar New Year’s Eve and four days after.

Two days off before Lunar New Year’s Eve and three days after.

Three days off before Lunar New Year’s Eve and two days after.

Employers must inform their employees of their selected holiday plan at least 30 days in advance.

2025: A year with 22 public holidays

In 2025, workers in Vietnam will have a total of 22 days off, including 11 official public holidays and 11 adjoining weekend days.

The 11 official public holidays include:

New Year’s Day: January 1 (1 day).

Lunar New Year: Five days as prescribed by the Labor Code.

Victory Day: April 30 (1 day).

International Workers' Day: May 1 (1 day).

National Day: September 2 and one adjoining day (2 days).

Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day: The 10th day of the 3rd lunar month (1 day).

The 11 adjoining weekend days include:

Four weekend days during the Lunar New Year holiday.

Two weekend days during the Hung Kings’ Commemoration holiday.

Three weekend days during the April 30 and May 1 holidays.

Two weekend days during the National Day holiday.
