Young tennis player Ly Hoang Nam was seeded ninth for Wimbledon on June 21 – a rise of four places from his world International Tennis Federation (ITF) ranking of thirteenth.

Nam has benefited from Wimbledon's unique seeding formula and it helps him avoid the strong opponents in the first round, increasing the chances of advancing deep in the tournament.

"This is my first time participating at Wimbledon and I have not had much experience playing on grass. My goal is to focus on each specific game, play up to my best in this most prestigious tournament in the world,” Nam revealed.

Wimbledon, which starts on July 4, is the only one of the four Grand Slam tournaments not to stick to the world rankings when seeding the men's event, instead of using a formula based on grass court form over the past two years.

In a warm up for the tournament, Nam will compete in the Nike Junior International Roehampton tournament taking place from June 28 to July 3 inclusive, where he is seeded eighth.
