Vietnamese Ly Hoang Nam made his debut in the world’s top 35 young tennis players with 514.38 points as the International Tennis Federation (ITF) announced its latest world junior boys’ rankings on March 23.

Hoang Nam produced a record jump of 15 places to 34th position in the world – his personal best world rating so far – which was attributed to his resounding success at the recent 25th Sarawak Chief Minister's Cup (I) ITF Junior Tennis tournament (Grade 1) in Kuching, Malaysia.

Nam won a double title during the six-day tournament, pairing with Alberto Lim of the Philippines to claim the boys’ doubles title on March 21 before finishing on top in the boys’ singles event one day later.

With this new ranking, Nam almost certainly books a place in the boys’ singles of the 2015 French Open, often referred to as Roland Garros, scheduled for this June.

This will be the second Grand Slam event of the year following the 2015 Australian Open in January, at which Nam defeated Corentin Moutet of France – an ATP ranking holder – with a score of 2-0 (7/6, 7/5).

Nam has joined his teammates of the national tennis team in Kuala Lumpur in preparation for the 2015 Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group III slated for tomorrow.
