Nam, world No 636 and No 4 seed here, beat Kelsey Stevenson of Canada 6-3, 6-2.

In the second round, Nam will meet Japanese Ken Onishi, who was earlier defeated by Nam in the F6 and F7 tournaments.

In the other fixtures, Tran Van Hoa lost to India’s Kaliyanda Poonacha Niki 1-6, 0-6; Vu Artem lost to Agarwal Rishab 1-6, 4-6 and Kittiphong Wachiramanowong of Thailand crushed Trinh Linh Giang 3-6, 3-6.
