Quan, at the end of last season, agreed to play for Quang Nam for two years and agreed to a signing-on fee of VND1.4 billion (US$66,600).

However, the national striker wanted to leave, although he has not yet worn Quang Nam's jersey.

The Hai Duong Province-born player has moved to Quang Ninh which, according to him, has a larger driving force.

"Quang Ninh is a team with strong support and big ambition for the coming season.

"Playing there, I would have more chance to display my ability, which will help me to score points under (national head coach) Miura, so that he would select me to compete at the SEA Games next year," said Quan.

"Quang Ninh Province is near my hometown and I will be closer to my family and friends," he added.

Rumours have claimed Quan will move there in three years and receive VND2 billion ($95,200) signing-on fee while his monthly salary is not released.

Quan has to pay Quang Nam VND500 million ($23,800) for leaving.

Last year, Quang Ninh finished sixth out of 12 participating teams.
