VietNamNet Bridge – The Sun City Group (Macau) wants to invest in a hotel and casino project on Vietnam’s largest island of Phu Quoc, the group’s CEO said at a meeting with local authorities on Tuesday.

According to Sun City Group’s representatives, the best location is Bai Truong in Duong To commune. However, as this location has been allocated to other investors, Sun City wants to build in Rach Tram hamlet in Bai Thom commune.

The group said it was willing to invest in Bai Truong if investors in the area withdraw.

Kien Giang province’s Vice Chair Nguyen Thanh Nghi welcomed Sun City Group’s plan and asked the group to submit official documents for consideration.

Nghi noted that the Group should carefully study the provisions of the Government of Vietnam on foreign investment, especially investment in casinos.

"That is the highest legal basis for investment in Phu Quoc casinos,” Nghi said.
