The 11th plenary session of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee (11th tenure) wrapped up Ha Noi on May 7 after four working days.

During the meeting, the participants discussed personnel plan for the 12th tenure of the Party Central Committee, number of delegates to attend the 12th National Party Congress, local government model, and Long Thanh International Airport project.

Regarding the personnel plan for the next tenure, more members based in strategic regions and key fields may be elected to the Party Central Committee, said Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong in his closing speech.

The number of young, female and ethnic cadres may also be increased in the next teure, he said.

The personnel structure should be devided into three age groups of under 50, from 50 to 60, and 61 and above.

For local governmet model, the delegates affirmed the importance of renovating and consolidating local goverments but this is a complicated issue that should be carried out cautiously, gradually, and solidly.

The delegates agreed that all administrative units specified in the clause 1, article 110 of the 2013 Constitution should have both People’s Committee and Peopl’s Council.

Regarding the Long Thanh International Airport, the delegates stressed on the necessity to get on with this especially important project. However, norms and conditions to make it an international air transport hub amid growing competition among international airports in the region should be further clarified and the investment efficiency must be carefully calculated as it is critical to national socioeconomic development./.
