VietNamNet Bridge - On January 11, four students from the Ho Chi Minh City Polytechnic University were tragically killed in a fire which broke out in ward 14, district 10, HCM City.

The victims have been named as Nguyen Hoang Nhan (22 from Soc Trang), Bui Quoc Loi (21 from Can Tho), Ngo Quang Thien (20 from Gia Lai) and Doan Trung Hieu (23 from Dak Nong).

A house caught fire in 243 alley, ward 14, district 10 at approximately 2.30pm. Local residents attempted to put out the fire but it was too strong and they were forced to call the emergency services for help.

The district’s Fire Fighting Police Department sent several fire trucks and fire-fighters immediately and within thirty minutes, the fire was distinguished. Sadly four students were killed and another – Le Van Ha (20 from Gia Lai province) – who was in critical condition was taken to Trung Vuong hospital.

According to initial information at the scene, the students had bought dynamite to make firecrackers.
