VietNamNet Bridge – Malaysia-based cruise line Dream Cruises looks set to operate a newly-built ship capable of transporting 3,500 passengers to Vietnam from November this year, according to travel company Viet Excursions.

Dream Cruises will make more than 10 trips to ports in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau, the central cities of Danang and Nha Trang, and the northern city of Halong from November this year to March 2017. Those voyages will carry passengers from Malaysia and Singapore to Vietnam and China.

The cruise line is selling tours of two, five, and seven days to Vietnam.

Phan Xuan Anh, chairman of Viet Excursions, said Dream Cruises is a new cruise line whose passengers are mainly Chinese-speaking high income earners. The new ship is now in the process of completion and will be put into service in October.

So far, Viet Excursions has served tourists of American and European cruise lines so a new contract to serve guests of Dream Cruises will help the company expand its market share to Chinese-speaking tourists with high income, Anh said.

He said the number of cruise tourists served by the company has risen by 10% this year.
