Earlier, at 8pm of August 4, Ling Seng Koey, Chong Kon Hoi and another man went to the Diamond World shop at 74 Bach Dang Street, Da Nang city, owned by Ms. Le Ngo My Hanh, to buy gold jewelry worth VND53 million ($2,500).
They paid for the jewelry by an international credit card and the transaction was admitted.
At the same time, an employee of another Diamond World shop at Vinh Trung Plaza building called Hanh to give her a warning about a foreigner who had use fake international credit card to buy gold worth VND33 million ($1,500) at this shop.
“I called employees to keep the three foreigners but they ran away. A staff ran after and kept one of them. Another man was held at the building basement. The third escaped,” Hanh told police.
At least seven shops in Da Nang reported to the local police agency that they were cheated by three foreigners who used fake credit cards to purchase goods worth nearly VND200 million.
Police seized these Malaysian men’s passports and assets which were considered exhibits of fraudulence cases. They are hunting the third Malaysian man for investigation.
