The Republic of Malta’s Consulate on Sept. 21 hosted a ceremony to present its consular office in Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of 47 years of the country’s National Day.

At the ceremony, Chairman and General Director of the Imperial Group in the city Huynh Trung Nam was accredited as the Honorary Consul of Malta in Vietnam.

In his position, Nam will be responsible for providing consular services for the community, boosting economic cooperation and cultural exchange between the two countries and promoting Malta’s image to Vietnamese people.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nam said that he will give priority to developing trade and investment ties between the two countries, with the aim of establishing Vietnam-Malta comprehensive relations.

Malta is a member country of the European Union (EU), and is situated between three important gateways of the world, including Europe, Africa and Middle East.

The country’s competitive strengths are expected to create favorable conditions for developing trade and bringing Vietnam’s goods to the above regions.
